Title: A Celebration of Jazz- Celebrates Gypsy Jazz!
Well, all the wet weather just couldn't dampen the great music and spirits of the wall to wall crowd at the annual Backyard Swing! The entire festival moved down the street to cram into the community centre, and with the able assistance of personnel from Creosote Sound, Fish Creek Concerts, the Acoustic Guitar Store, and many many volunteers and fine musicians, a great time was had by all - in spite of all the rain! Many thanks to Michael and Jo for hosting another stellar year!
Friday, June 24 we're looking are absolutely delighted to join with the Marc Atkinson Trio for a special evening of Gypsy Jazz and Hot Swing ! We hope to rattle the rafters of Central United Church - a fine setting for gypsy jazz - starting at 8:00 pm.
The Marc Atkinson Trio is legendary in the western Canadian gypsy jazz scene, and simply - not to be missed! They have toured across North America, in England and Europe, and are a mainstay of 'Django' festivals on both continents. A respected and inventive composer, Marc and his group bring their exceptional talents to the fore in this lively evening of musical magic at Central United Church! The trio has recently released their fourth CD to rave reviews, and never fail to receive standing ovations and accolades for their performances.
